A message from Joni Elliott, Counsellor:

Hi all. I am the clinical counsellor here at Hope Church. Here are a few little tidbits about me. I have been attending Hope since I arrived here in Strathmore in 2012. My greatest love is Jesus and I know that if He had a refrigerator, my picture would be on it. I am head over heals in love with my kids (I do consider my kid-in-laws my kids also) and grandkids. We always have a great time together; lots of giggles and laughs. I have a passion for horses and hounds; enjoy snuggling up with a good book… on a beach; and love, love, love the smell of rain.

Hope Church has been blessing to me and instrumental in helping me achieve my Master of Arts in Counselling through Providence Theological Seminary. My specialized t raining gives me opportunity to have a counselling practice that is immersed in foundational Christian values. I am registered as a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the CCPA and have membership with ACTA as a General Counsellor.

The effects of the last three years have been deeply felt. In what feels like hopelessness, please know there is always hope. I would be honoured to journey along with you to help you find or re-find your hope. If you are trying to hold it together because of a difficult relationship; are overwhelmed by anxiety and depression; and/or exhausted by the mask you wear to show that you are okay on the outside, but struggling on the inside. (the list goes on), I can offer support. You do not have to go through this alone. I offer a trauma informed, non-judgemental environment where you can feel respected, valued, and supported.

If you are part of the Hope Church congregation (have attended Hope), they will gift you one free session. If you feel you cannot afford the cost of counselling sessions, please reach out and we can have a conversation about that.
